San Ginesio and Visso will also be part of the network of municipal libraries created together with the other municipalities in the province adhering to MaMa (Maceratese brand). Both bodies have signed the memorandum of understanding for the creation of the territorial system of online municipal libraries in Macerata, also participating in the Mibact tender for the fund for the promotion of reading, of the protection and enhancement of the book heritage.
Among the main objectives of the neo-network are:: enhancing the role of the public library, starting processes, also in subsidiary form, for the establishment of new libraries, especially in municipalities where they are not present. And also encourage the spread of books and reading at all ages and from a very young age, with the diffusion of the Born to Read method and the involvement of paediatricians; implement protective actions, cataloguing, digitization and valorisation of book heritage.
The project aims to develop forms of digital libraries, even with conversion from paper originals, organize shared training courses for library staff, activate tools for participation in funding calls and activate collaborations with school libraries. Finally, create shared communication tools (common logo, website, social tools, campaign in marketing).
San Ginesio joined the council on Wednesday.
